The Moullion Family in Germany

This site has been established to document the history of the Moullion Family which today lives in different countries around the world, often without knowing from each other. It also tries to be a source of information for all those people who are looking for relations or who like to find out more about their ancestors.

What’s known by now ...

Approximately in 1786 a lot of Germans emigrate to a region called Batschka which nowadays lays in the north of Serbia. The name of one of its villages was Brestowatz. There were also some French, who settled in Brestowatz. They even had their own street there. The name of one family was 'De Moullion', but during the centuries it was changed to Moullion or Mullion.

Supported by a special software, I generated a documentation about my ancestors (sorry, German language only), which leads back to the 18th century. Unfortunately, I have no information about the time before. If you know something about this time, I would be glad to hear from you.

Please note:

  • Brestowatz and Batschka are German names. The official name of Brestowatz is Brestovac. Other German names for Brestowatz are Ulmenau and Ulmen-Hain. The Hungarian name is Szilberek. Spelling and/or dialect variants are Batsch-Brestowatz, Szilvás, Backi Brestovac, Bresztovacz.
  • In this document I use the German date format which begins with the day, not the month !
This is because most of  the information sources I used were German.
